When Team Poly flagged that they needed a new generation structurally optimised water tank we took up the challenge. The result? A tank that requires less energy and material to manufacture, is easier to transport, and inspired by the Boab tree which stores water in its trunk and has a structurally efficient shape. Extensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) analysis of the tank concept confirmed that this biomimicry approach offered structural advantages, providing an 18% material saving over existing tank designs, whilst being compliant to AS 4766 and AS 1170. The tapered shape allows tanks of the same size to stack. This provides savings in transport and carbon emissions. Available in 7 sizes from 1,000 litres to 27,000 litres.
